We are in San Fernando Valley- ethnic food heaven. There is a nearby Iranian supermarket that almost made Bill and me cry. We're going to get sumac for your Iranian/MiddleEastern month. Write asap if there's anything else. Then Dave (from Sanford DAVID) and Maria took us to a huge Japanese supermarket. We will send you treats. We think Japan is worth at least 2 weeks - maybe combined with Korea? or China?
That's too bad! I love mole... takes forever to make, but can be soooooo good. Chocolate, peanut butter... such great flavors :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll try another mole! They can be delicious.

The soup Maria made last night was from Julia Child's FROM JULIA CHILD'S KITCHEN - Soupe de poissons provencale with Rouille. Maria used frozen fish.
ReplyDeleteWe had a green mole, which I would have liked better if we put it through the sieve. Sounds like you are having a great time in LA!
ReplyDeleteI am not a mole fan either
ReplyDeleteUse that lard to make the best pie crust ever and drown your sorrows in pie...it's what I'd do ;)
Pam, we are going to use it to make more tamales tonight. Will you be at Kurt and Laura's?
